 A HotSpot refers to a location in which a user can enjoy wireless internet access, or wifi as it is commonly known, with a
laptop or PDA. Most HotSpots are located in public places like cafes, restaurants, hotels, malls and airports.
A wifi access point is installed at a loaction by GlobalXtreme ISP. This transmits a radio wave which can be received by wifi enabled laptops and PDAs (802.11b compliant). When an enabled user attempts to open their internet browser in a GlobalXtreme HotSpot, a log-in screen appears which prompts the user to enter their username and password.
GlobalXtreme HotSpot users obtain their username and password by purchasing a Prepaid HotSpot Card from GlobalXtreme. These cards can be bought for 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours and 4 hours. GlobalXtreme ISP provides 128Kbps per client at each HotSpot location. This is different from the services offered at other hotspots which share their bandwidth among clients. At GlobalXtreme 128 Kbps is not a shared bandwidth. Rather, each client at a GlobalXtreme hotspot is guaranteed 128 Kbps.
